Geography shaping India's future

As India prepares for its centenary of independence in 2047, the Department of Geography at Savitribai Phule Pune University organises this landmark international conference — deliberating upon the critical role of geography in shaping India's developmental path.

The conference brings together academicians, social scientists, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts from across the world to explore geospatial technologies, climate science, resource management, and more.

Hosted at SPPU — ranked 566th globally (QS 2026) and 56th nationally (NIRF 2025) — and anchored by the Institute of Indian Geographers (IIG), this event will be a landmark convergence of spatial thinking and national development.
